How to narrow down a Segal ring in three decisions
1. Shape. Round brilliants sparkle most and hide flaws best. Ovals and marquises look bigger for the same carat weight. Emerald cuts look refined but show inclusions, so budget for better clarity.
2. Setting. Most Segal designs come in families. A hidden halo is invisible from above; a regular halo makes the centre look bigger; floral settings are the most distinctive but trickier to pair with a wedding band.
3. Stone and metal. The same design usually comes with natural diamond, lab diamond, moissanite, black diamond or a coloured gem, in 14K or 18K gold or platinum. That choice moves the price more than anything else. Our stone guide and metal guide cover it.
A tip on names: at Segal the number after the design name usually marks the stone and metal variant. Gemma No. 3 and Gemma No. 37 share a setting; one has a white diamond, the other a black one.
